Qualifications for the position

Artist, Designer and Master in Museology and Heritage Management of the National University of Colombia. Trilingual professional (Spanish, French and English) with preparation in the conceptualization, design, implementation and development of museological and museographic projects with emphasis on management of cultural projects.

I am currently actively involved in projects related to heritage, memory and identity. Since 2017 I am developing the Museum of the University of Rosario created from the diagnosis made for the master’s thesis of Museology and Heritage Management of the National University. The Museum includes heritage education projects, permanent, temporary and itinerant exhibitions, cultural activities, as well as a conservation and maintenance program for the collection and a strong international component with guided tours in several languages with the support of University students. They are trained as mediators. Among the virtual strategies I have developed virtual tours in 360 degrees and a virtual museum in Second life.

I have given lectures and workshops on museography, curatorship and heritage education aimed at museum workers in Tunja, Cali, Barranquilla, Pereira and Ibagué in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture’s Program for Strengthening Museums. I have developed the direction, coordination and production of projects related to artistic and cultural heritage, as well as museological and museographic projects of exhibitions, in topics of historical nature, related to the history of the Rosario University and national history, as well as themes documentaries, biographical, scientific, artistic and cultural in general. I have experience in museographic design and assembly of documentary exhibitions and plastic artists with a highly educational component, an exercise that is currently part of my professional activity.

Since the year 2000 I have developed free and dynamic workshops for the development of creativity and expression at the Universidad del Rosario for a varied audience. I belong to ICOM Colombia since 2008 and I was part of the Board of Directors between 2014 and 2017. The Museum of the Universidad del Rosario was registered in 2017 and is currently in the process of joining ICOM Colombia. The management for the creation of this museum in the university institution has allowed me to know and handle very closely all the problems of this project. In addition to implementing a whole series of new activities in the university institution: heritage education program and the activation of this has allowed the Museum to be part of the PID and the missionary axes of the University, supporting the memory and identity of a 365-year-old institution in South America.

All the above explains my professional development in the University and in the museology field. I supported the dissemination of ICOM in the field of museums in Colombia. I attended the General Assembly in Milan in 2016 and began to understand the importance of UMAC. I attended Mexico twice and in Miami in 2018 and these events gave me a dimension of the importance of UMAC in the region. Currently I want to support the activities of UMAC and actively work in its dissemination and consolidation of this committee in our countries in South America. I think it is important to form a group of university museums with the same concerns and problems to share concerns, experiences and knowledge.
