ICOM offers one grant to a UMAC individual member to attend the 19th UMAC Annual Conference in Kyoto, 1-7 September 2019.

ELIGIBILITY

You are eligible if:
– you are 40 years old or younger
– you are a UMAC individual member
– you have paid ICOM membership fees for the past 2 years (2017-2018) or you are a new ICOM member and you have paid ICOM membership fees for 2018 and 2019
– you have not received a ICOM or UMAC travel grant for the past 2 years (Helsinki and Miami Conferences)

SELECTION CRITERIA

The grant is given after a competitive process, and is based on demonstrated financial need and merit.
Preference will be given to candidates from countries and territories belonging to Categories 4, 3 and 2 (see here what this means).

USE OF GRANT

The grant will cover the expenses of your economy class airline ticket as well as your accommodation (single room with breakfast included) and conference fees (if applicable). Additional expenses related to room upgrade, special travel itinerary, visa fees, health insurance, transportation on the ground and meals will not be covered.
Grant recipients may be asked to assist the conference organisers during the conference; information on specific expectations will be communicated after the selection process is complete.
The support of ICOM and UMAC should be acknowledged in the presentation.

SUBMISSION

Submissions are made through an online form. After submitting, please do not forget to send the following documentation to UMAC Secretary (secretary@umac.icom.museum):

– Current Curriculum Vitae, indicating training, work experience, publications, as well as current work responsibilities within your institution (max. 2 pages)
– Copy of your passport (for the age)
– 500 word motivation letter for attending the annual conference, justifying the need and how attendance will benefit your career goals
– Letter of support from the Chair of your National Committee (recommended but not obligatory)
– Letter of support from your PhD supervisor (if applicable)

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
